Role: Lead UX Designer and Researcher - bringing the project from concept to delivery.
Target: CineScape Customers and Movie Enthusiasts
Goal: CineScape is a mobile app that allows users to book movie tickets seamlessly while offering exclusive rewards and benefits to its members. My research focused on optimizing the ticket booking user-flow for logged-in members, ensuring a smooth and rewarding experience.
Through user interviews and empathy mapping, we gained deeper insights into the needs and pain points of the app’s target audience. Our research identified busy students and young professionals as a key user group, as they seek a fast and hassle-free way to book and manage movie tickets.
Beyond just time constraints, the study uncovered several barriers preventing users from going to the movies:
Time: Limited free schedules make spontaneous outings difficult.
Cost: High ticket and concession prices deter frequent visits.
Locations: Limited theater options in certain areas reduce accessibility.
Site Navigation: Complex or slow booking processes frustrate users.
By addressing these challenges, the app can create a more seamless and appealing movie-going experience.
At this stage, our mission was clear: solve user pain points and craft a seamless, enjoyable experience. To make it happen, we zeroed in on two key priorities:
Streamlining navigation: Ensuring users could move effortlessly through the app.
Optimizing the homepage: Strategically placing visual elements for instant clarity and engagement.
The goal? Turn frustration into frictionless fun—so booking tickets feels effortless, every time.
The high-fidelity prototype delivered a smooth, familiar booking experience—just like the effortless joy of a great cinema trip. We kept it intuitive, with:
✔ Smart breadcrumb navigation: A visual trail so users always know where they are (and where they’re headed).
✔ Progress bar integration: No more guessing—just a smooth, step-by-step journey from seat selection to checkout.
The result? A flow that just works, so users spend less time figuring out steps and more time anticipating the movie.

After conducting two rounds of usability testing with a high-fidelity prototype, key pain points and improvement opportunities emerged. Users consistently emphasized the need for speed, simplicity, and convenience in the ticket booking process.
Key Findings:
Streamlined Search & Booking
Users requested a faster, more intuitive search with filters (e.g., by cinema, time, or genre).
A refined search experience would reduce decision fatigue and speed up booking.
Dedicated Member Hub
Registered users wanted a centralized portal to:
Securely store personal/payment details
Access purchased tickets
Track and redeem rewards/promotions
Overly Complex Checkout Flow
Users found the ordering process too lengthy and confusing.
Lack of clear progress tracking led to frustration and drop-offs.
Next Steps:
Simplify the search UI with smart filters and predictive input.
Develop a member dashboard for easy profile and ticket management.
Optimize the checkout flow by reducing steps and adding a progress indicator.
Putting the app through its paces with real users revealed something exciting - it actually works better than we'd hoped. People nailed ticket bookings on their first try, and loved how in control they felt. The results were highly positive - achieving an high task success rate for ticket bookings.
Key takeaways:
